I’m Melissa, the painter and wedding stationer behind A BRUSH WITH MEL.
In Aug 2015, I took a gap year to chase a couple of dreams I buried long ago. Painting, was one them. At the onset, I wasn’t sure where it might lead and whether I had it in me. But alas, after months of painting quite madly in 2016, here I am with – A BRUSH WITH MEL!
Mostly self-taught, I love working with watercolours. Sometimes I’d dabble in inks and acrylics. Florals and abstracts are my favourite themes; though every now and then brush writing excites me too.
It’s like a dance;
I love it most when the brush and I are one, in sync.
Still very much young at art, I’m constantly exploring, finding my style, and seeking to push my boundaries. Sometimes, I can’t wait to fast forward life to see how and what I’d be painting a decade from now.
I am thankful for this gift that God has blessed me with, and it is my dream to see my paintings come to life and take meaning beyond what I put on paper/canvas. If you like what you see around here and would be keen to collaborate or have me do up something special, I’d love to hear from you!
